The proposed project seeks to build on the existing network of Columbia University’s Global Health Center (CUGC) in Mumbai in order to cultivate partnerships between faculty at the Mailman School of Public Health (MSPH) and local public health partners, and develop student field practica in India.
This project proposes to establish a cross regional core convening group of nurse leaders and researchers in global health; develop a database of nurse and midwife leaders involved in regional research and program evaluation; plan and convene a research summit to identify and reach consensus on gaps in knowledge and priorities for nursing research to address global needs for education and research, and develop a dissemination of recommendations and implementation plan for support for nursing research with a mentorship component.
This proposal draws together four Global Centers. With the essential support of the centers and the funds, this initiative will establish a sustained and dynamic network in global mental health that profoundly advances scientific knowledge and treatment of mental disorders globally.
