2017 Columbia Global Centers | Beijing Yage New Year Concert

On Janaury 15th, 2017, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing, together with Genesis Beijing hosted the 2017 Yage New Year Concert. The leading tenor of the Yage group, Mr. FAN Jingma, along with musicians from China Philharmonic Orchestra and soprano ZHANG Linxiao and ZHANG Yi together brought an exceptional performance for more than two hundred audiences. Thirty Columbia Alumni joined the event.

The Chinese tenor FAN Jingma, who received his Bel Canto training in China, Italy (with Carlo Bergonzi), and New York (with Franco Corelli and the Juilliard School of Music), is an internationally recognized opera singer, concert singer, and recital singer. 

He came to international attention as a prize winner at the Third Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 1987, and the first prize at the Opera Index Vocal Competitionin 1991 in New York.

His wide repertoire includes the title and leading roles from over 50 operas, operetta, and oratorios. He has performed on all major opera stages around the world and cooperated with the major symphony orchestras in concerts. Opera Now called his portrayal of Goro in the 1995 release of the film version of Madam Butterfly(by Frederic Mitterand with James Conlon) “worthy of an Oscar nomination.” Since 2008, He is dedicated to the promotion of Yage with a vision that as Chinese Lieder, it will be accepted, shared, and appreciated by both East and West.
