On the occasion of 2016 G-20 Energy Ministerial Meeting, the Beijing Global Center worked with the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) to organize a high-level workshop entitled “Financing Challenge for Solar Power” on June 28. The workshop was hosted in partnership with three other partners: the China CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) Fund under the Ministry of Finance, the Energy Development Research Center of the China Investment Association, and the New Era Renewable Energy Alliance. About 60 industry leaders and researchers from think-tanks and investment institutions from across the value chain of solar finance attended the workshop.

On June 30, the Beijing Global Center also worked with the Columbia Center on Global Energy Policy to host the inaugural meeting of the US-CHINA Energy Program Advisory Board. During the meeting, participants from China and abroad expressed their excitement about the opportunities ahead for the US-China Program, and shared insights about how to turn those opportunities into action.

On July 1, The Beijing Center worked with the Center on Global Energy Policy to organize a high-level workshop on the “Chinese Medium-and Long Term Oil Demand Outlook,” in partnership with the Energy Research Institute under the China National Development and Reform Committee, as well as the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Energy Technology & Research Institute. More than 50 high-level government officials, sector specialists, and international experts attended the workshop.
