On July 9, the Beijing Center co-hosted an orientation and welcome reception for newly-enrolled students in partnership with the Columbia University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CUCSSA) and the Columbia Alumni Association of Beijing. CUCSSA representatives advised the new students on how to prepare for their arrival at Columbia, updated on campus news, and gave a quick primer on NYC and the area around campus. Some senior alumni also shared their insights on how to make the most out of life at Columbia, and the new students later met in groups with alumni mentors for in-depth discussions.

The preeminent think tank in China, headed by the former vice premier, hosted hundreds of politicians, scholars, business leaders, and experts from nearly 30 countries at the summit.

On April 28, 2015, the panel “Women’s Rights in China: How Far Have We Come Since 1995?” was held at Columbia Global Centers | East Asia (Beijing), as  the first event of the gender public seminar series of the Center's Beijing+20 program commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
