Event Intro

 

On July 20, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing will have Dr. Les Joynes to speak about his contributions to the new wave of intercultural arts research and FormLAB's recent exhibitions in Brazil, Mongolia, and China. His presentation will highlight how interdisciplinary artists and academics now combine research, collaboration, and exchange to build mutual understanding through arts.

Speaker

 

Dr. Les Joynes is a Visiting Scholar in Art and Education at Columbia University where he examines global cooperation in education. Dr. Joynes is a Visiting Professor at Renmin University’s International Summer School teaching art history and is 2017 Fulbright-Hays US Public Diplomacy Awardee for China. He founded FormLAB, an arts research project at Goldsmiths, London in 1997 and now contributes to three books: Going Beyond: Art as Adventure (Cambridge Scholars, UK); Anywhere v.1 (Parsons The New School, New York); and Conversations on Emerging Models of Teaching (Critical Practices, New York).
