FAPERJ and Columbia University sign partnership to foster research in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro State Funding Agency (FAPERJ) and Columbia Global Centers | Latin America (Rio de Janeiro) signed an agreement March 20 that will promote joint research projects between university professors from the State of Rio and Columbia University. The signing ceremony was held at Rio de Janeiro Governor’s Palace with the presence of Governor Sergio Cabral, authorities from the State Government, FAPERJ and Higher Education Institutions and Center friends.

The agreement between FAPERJ and the Rio de Janeiro Center corresponds to an investment of $1.8 million approximately, and it will support research in areas like education, sustainable development, public health, and other related areas.

The Rio Center will promote the opportunity in the US, among Columbia University professors and the academic community; will assist Brazilian researchers connect with US counterparts, and will issue a letter of support required to submit proposals.

Submissions of proposals are due May 8 and the application process is done entirely online, through SisFAPERJ system, by the researcher from any academic research institution in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Results will be published after June 11. Information about the RFP can be found at http://www.faperj.br/boletim_interna.phtml?obj_id=9896.
