Q and A: Jordana Fremed, SEE-U program

August 27, 2014

Jordana Fremed is one of several Columbia undergraduates who traveled to Jordan and Columbia Global Centers | Middle East this summer as part of the Summer Ecosystem Experiences for Undergraduates Program, which is run in conjunction with Columbia College and the Center for Environmental Research and Conservation at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. She shares below his experiences in the five-week program.

What promoted you to seek this opportunity at the center?
I was looking to grasp any opportunity to learn different aspects of sustainable development and I couldn’t help jump at this one.

Where were the one or two highlights for you from your time here?
Dead Sea, Aqaba, and Petra. The hikes in Petra were amazing I really enjoyed being out there and active.

What is your career goal?
Law or Finance, from an environmental perspective.

How did this experience have an impact on that goal, if all?
This experience trained my eye to see the bigger picture. It made me understand that all of our actions will affect a chain of other things. Don’t take what you have for granted.
