Thomas Trebat to deliver keynote speech at Oil and Gas Conference taking place at FGV

The Director of the Columbia Global Centers Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Trebat, will deliver the keynote speach at the international conference "Public Policy for Oil and Gas and its Impact on the Social and Economic Development of Brazil", which will be hosted by the School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) of Fundação Getulio Vargas.

Dr. Trebat's keynote will be on thursday, December 3rd, at 7pm.

Urban Climate Change Research Network Opens its Latin American hub at FioCruz

The Latin American hub of the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) was launched on October 13, in Rio de Janeiro. The launch event took place at a workshop on resilient cities, Risk of Climate Change to Urban Health Management.The Hub launch was part of a workshop involving important names related to studying of climate change impacts on cities, specially in Brazil. In a series of debates and several researchers, public officials and civil society leaderships had the opportunity to discuss topics related to climate change, resilient cities and urban management.

On August 12th and 13th 2015, Columbia University's Center for Brazilian Studies held a conference on Mobile Learning. 

The Conference, that happened in Brasília, aimed to bring local and global eyes and ears to discuss this very important piece of public policy for the future. To do so, the speakers discussed several mobile learning experiences outside of Brazil, and how those experiences can be integrated to Brazilian's policies and improve the country's capacity to develop education, in terms of infrastructure, digital content and teacher training.

Global Center signs agreement with the State of Rio de Janeiro for Tax Data Usage

Dr. Thomas J. Trebat, Director of the Columbia Global Centers | Latin America (Rio de Janeiro), has signed an agreement with Rio de Janeiro's State Finance Secretary, to allow researchers from Columbia University to use the data on tax revenue. The State will provide a Database with all-anonymous information on tax payment in Rio de Janeiro, to be used by researchers who aim to better understand the most varied issues, such as economic development and social inequalities.
