Ilana joined the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro in July 2016. She graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) where she received a B.A. in Languages and Literature (Portuguese and English) in 2010. During her undergraduate course, she was an intern at PUC-Rio's International Office, assisting the Coordinator for International Students. After graduating and spending a semester in Europe, she returned to PUC-Rio's International Office as a Special Projects Assistant, where she was responsible for multiple projects, including the implementation and inauguration of the Confucius Institute, a partnership between PUC-Rio and Hebei University.
Her previous work experiences include a year working as Administrative and Financial Assistant at a startup, where she was able to gain practical experience in different areas. She later returned to the field of International Education, as Administrative Coordinator at IES-Abroad. Before joining the Rio Center, she spent a semester in Buenos Aires studying Spanish. She has also done freelance work for the British Council and the Fulbright Commission as translator at education fairs in Rio.
