On January 5, 2018, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing and Columbia University's 2018 SIPA China Delegation will co-host the 2018 SIPA China Delegation X Alumni Night. We are glad to invite two distinguished young innovators from the field of Technology to share their unique entrepreneurial journeys, to introduce China's business environment and China's prospect in their fields, and to take questions from the audiences. After the seminar, participants will be able to communicate with guest speakers, delegates from 2018 SIPA China Delegation, and other Columbia alumni!
SIPA China Delegation was inaugurated in 2016. Fully initiated, fundraised and operated by SIPA students under the support of SIPA and Columbia University, Delegation has gained full support fromChinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and full sponsorship from China-U.S. Exchange Foundation (CUSEF). In 2018, aiming to create an all-dimensional experience for SIPA's foreign students, the Delegation will take 20 students to visit governmental institutions, state-owned enterprises, top Chinese firms, and tourism spots in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Professor Merit Janow, Dean of SIPA, also sent her high regard towards the visit, anticipating students to have close contact with leaders and talented youths to deepen their understanding of all aspects of China.
Dr. Peng Kang is currently a professor in Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Science in China. He received B.S. in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China in 2004 and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University in 2010. Between 2010 to 2015, he was a postdoctoral research associate under joint supervision by Prof. Maurice Brookhart and Prof. Thomas J. Meyer in the Chemistry Department of UNC-Chapel Hill. He has published research articles on J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Energy Environ. Sci, etc. and was awarded with "Postdoc Awards for Research Excellence" from UNC and "Thousand Young Talents Plan" by the Chinese government. His research focuses on photo-electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to fuels and chemicals.
Dr. Kanle Shi, Bachelor, Software Engineering, Tsinghua University (2003 - 2007), and Ph.D., Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University (2007 - 2012). He is the owner of the Top-Grade Scholarship of Tsinghua University and CCF Excellent Ph.D. Thesis. After graduation, he joined INRIA France as a researcher on Computer Graphics and Geometry. After coming back to China in 2014, as the founder CEO, he started Hesion Technology with his friends also graduated from the Institute of Computer Graphics and Computer Aided Design, Tsinghua University. He is also one of the founders of Hulu.com, a popular website in North America.
