Why do batteries not last forever? Energy storage, at scale, is currently considered the last required innovation for the transition to a fossil fuel free energy economy. But how far away is 'cheap' and 'everlasting' energy storage technology? Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai invites you to a talk by Professor Daniel Steingart, which will explore the current state of energy storage, what gaps exist in meeting worldwide requirements, and what opportunities exist to accelerate adoption and performance of energy storage devices.
Daniel Steingart is the Stanley-Thompson Associate Professor of Chemical Metallurgy in the Departments of Earth and Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering at Columbia University, and the Co-Director of the Columbia Electrochemical Energy Center. He studies the interactions between materials and systems in electrochemical reactors with a focus on energy storage devices. He has formed five electrochemical energy related startups, the latest being Feasible, which exploits the inherent acoustic responses of closed electrochemical systems.
