Challenges and Opportunities in Diagnosing, Monitoring and Treating Peripheral Arterial Disease and Diabetic Foot Syndrome

Organized by Columbia University and Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), in collaboration with the King Abdullah University Hospital and Columbia Global Centers | Amman

The symposium on the Challenges and Opportunities in Diagnosing, Monitoring and Treating Peripheral Arterial Disease and Diabetic Foot Syndrome taking place on Wednesday, December 5th at Columbia Global Centers | Amman, is led by Dr. Andreas H. Hielscher, Professor of Biomedical and Electrical Engineering and Radiology at Columbia University, and Dr. Rabah Al Abdi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the King Abdullah University Hospital and Columbia’s Global Center in Amman. The symposium focuses on the unmet clinical needs of diabetic patients with peripheral artery disease in the Middle East. Questions such as, what are the most prevalent medical conditions of these patients; what considerations apply specifically to refugee populations, and what affects the viability of new technologies and methods to address these specific needs will be discussed.

Opening remarks will be given by Professor Sa'eb Khresat, President of Jordan University of Science and Technology.
