On November 23, the Liberta Institute, in a partnership with the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro, will host the conference: Child Sexual Exploitation | Prevention and Response.
The conference will bring together Columbia University faculty, leaders of international organizations for child protection, and members of the Brazilian private and public sectors to share experiences and discuss best practices in preventing and responding to cases of sexual exploitation.
Throughout the day, themes such as the importance of education for prevention, protection networks and international cases will be addressed.
Child and adolescent exploitation is a global issue. Being one of the most serious and heinous problems derived from social inequality and poverty, it has proven to be a challenge to the Brazilian government and social institutions who mean to end it.
The State Secretary of Education of São Paulo will share their experience from a governmental point of view and the fantastic work they have been doing with Liberta Institute in addressing the issue with their school communities.
Liberta Institute and Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro intend to tackle this urgent issue by bringing it to people’s attention.
The winners of the contest promoted by Instituto Liberta, in partnership with Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro and the Secretaria Estadual de São Paulo, were announced on November 23, 2018, during the seminar Child Sexual Exploitation | Prevention and Response. The winners are:

The conference will take place at Unibes Cultural, from 10 AM to 4 PM, on November 23rd.
