On December 2015, the Center Coppe-Columbia for Urban Solutions launched the Design Challenge, a project to engage students in proposing innovative solutions to the multi-faceted urban problems in a way that can inform policy changes. On May 31st, the finalist student teams from Design Challenges I and II will have the opportunity to present their prototypes to angel investors (entrepreneurs responsible for taking off early stage businesses) and to the Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Science (Columbia | SEAS) representatives Dean Mary Boyce, Professor Fred Jiang, Professor Kartik Chandran and Professor Barclay Morrison, as well as Coppe representatives such as Professor Romildo Toledo and Professor Edson Watanabe.
