On July 8, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing cordially invite you to join a scientific panel titled “The Earth Cannot be Silenced: Columbia Climate Research and the Fate of the Planet.” Arthur Lerner-Lam, the deputy director of Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), will make an introduction and overview of LDEO along with scientists in different earth science introducing their research endeavors, their experiences at Lamont, and their connections with China. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the panel, providing audiences an opportunity to have face-to-face communications with Columbia professors.

Professor Arthur L. Lerner-Lam
Professor Lerner-Lam is the Deputy Director and Lamont Research Professor of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. He is also the Adjunct Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses seismology, especially upper mantle structures.
Professor Gisela Winckler
Professor Winckler is the Lamont Research Professor and lecture at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. She is also a professor in geochemistry. Her research focuses on Marine geochemistry, Paleoclimatology, Paleoceanography, Tracer oceanography, dust, and paleoclimate.
