The Columbia Alumni Club of Chile is delighted to invite you to join the Columbia alumni community in Santiago for a guided tour of the city's new Metro Line 6, and the line’s control room.
Vladimir Glasinovic, a Columbia alumnus and current member of Metro de Santiago’s board, will lead the tour, which will begin at Los Leones station. Glasinovic will walk us through “The Swedish Way” (Vía Suecia), an art installation across an 80-meter long tunnel that illustrates Sweden’s history and its relationship with Chile. We will then jump on the train’s first car, with a view of the tunnel ahead of us. Glasinovic will share behind-the-scenes information about the technology in the new line, which is controlled remotely.
The group will then descend at Ñuñoa station to visit the control room and learn how Metro de Santiago manages such large flows of people. Inaugurated last November, Santiago's new line is a 15 km network with 10 stations.
After the visit we will come back to Los Leones station where we will end the evening with drinks and snacks at the De la Ostia bar.
Date, time, and location: Wednesday, March 28, 2018; 5:15 pm at the crossroads of General Holley and Avenida Suecia, 7:15 pm at De la Ostia bar (Orrego Luco 65). Food and drinks available for purchase.
