Gender-Based Violence: The Other Pandemic

As countries have gone into lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19, the efforts to save lives have put one vulnerable group more at risk.

From Chile to Germany, Brazil to China, there has been a “horrifying global surge in domestic violence," according to UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Carolina Cuevas, Chile’s Minister of Women & Gender Equality Affairs, and  Lisa Bates, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, will discuss this tragedy and suggest prevention and policy measures to address it.
