On October 30, the Istanbul Center, in collaboration with the Columbia Alumni Association of Turkey, will host Levent Kurnaz, Professor of Physics in the Faculty of Science and Letters at Boğaziçi University, for talk at Atölye. Prof. Kurnaz will discuss the national and international aftermath of the climate crisis through his new book, “Before the Last Glacier Melts.” Known for his work on climate change, Prof. Kurnaz calls our attention to what we already know and tries to bring the cold hard reality of climate change in our daily lives.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Levent Kurnaz was born in Istanbul. He received his diplomas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1988, and Senior Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Physics in 1990 from Boğaziçi University; and diploma of Master of Physics in 1991, and Doctorate of Physics in 1994 from University of Pittsburgh. Between 1995- 1997, he conducted post-doctoral research at the Department of Chemistry at Tulane University. In 1997, he became an assistant professor at Boğaziçi University. Since 2005, he has been Professor of Physics in the Faculty of Science and Letters at Boğaziçi University.
