The meeting will be to share existing science, policy, and health projects related to air quality in Nairobi or elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa, and to explore the potential for future collaborations. Prof. Dan Westervelt - an Associate Research Scientist from Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory - Columbia University, will spearhead the meeting. He has been awarded a major grant from Columbia to work on air pollution in Africa. Through this research project the ultimate goal will be collect data that will help local governments to take action to protect human and environmental health and to plan for a sustainable future. The round-table will include participants from local academic institutions such as; Kenyatta University, Nairobi University and Jomo Kenyatta University.
