Ira Deutchman has been making, marketing and distributing films since 1975, having worked on over 150 films including some of the most successful independent films of all time. He was one of the founders of Cinecom and later created Fine Line Features—two companies that were created from scratch and in their respective times, helped define the independent film business. Currently Deutchman is managing partner of Emerging Pictures, a New York-based digital exhibition company. He is also a Professor of Professional Practice in the School of the Arts at Columbia University, where he is the chair of the Film Program.
Emre Akpınar worked at Medyavizyon between 2002 – 2006 in its acquisitions department, where he was promoted to the head of acquisitions in 2005. He worked at Film Pop Filmcilik between 2006 – 2010 as head of acquisitions (2006 – 2008) and general manager (2008 – 2010). He founded M3 Films with his partner in 2010 and to date, M3 Film has distributed over 150 movies theatrically. He founded his distribution company, Kurmaca Film in 2011.
Lara Büyükcivelek was born in Ankara in 1980. She graduated from Tevfik Fikret High School, she studied international relations at Bilkent University. She holds a master’s degree in tourism management from Istanbul Technical University. She worked in tourism between 2002 and 2005, before transferring to the media sector. After four years of experience with the Umut Sanat Film Distribution Company, Lara Büyükcivelek has been working at Digiturk since 2009. As the content acquisition and film channels director, her responsibilities include content selection, negotiation and acquisition of Moviemax Channels within the company’s Premium Film Package; selection, negotiation of and contract administration with local and foreign channels on the Digiturk platform.
İmre Tezel studied economics and business administration after having graduated from Saint Benoit French High School. Following her university education, she worked as a marketing and project development coordinator in film sector. For a period of two years, she taught in the Cultural Management Department where she also earned an MBA, with a dissertation focusing on the cinema sector in Turkey. She worked at a film company as a film acquisition and sales manager between 2008 and 2011. İmre Tezel also undertook the general coordination of the 2012 !f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival. Currently, she is the director of the BAŞKA SINEMA initiative.
