On November 15, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing invites leading experts in cardiovascular diseases from the U.S. and China to talk about effects of air pollution on cardiovascular health and current features of CVD Epidemiology and implications in China.
Andrew E. Moran, Assistant Professor of Medicine at CUMC
Professor Moran's primary research focus is the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular disease and other chronic, non-communicable diseases in low and middle income nations. Dr. Moran's leadership of the ischemic heart disease analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. An NHLBI R01 award supports his analysis of hypertension control guidelines in the United States.
Dr. Gu is the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Deputy Director, National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, China; Vice President of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College; Professor, Chair of Department of Epidemiology. He has led large observational and interventional studies in both the genomic fields and epidemiology that have explored the risk factors associated with hypertension, coronary artery disease and what impacted prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in populations.
Professor Zhao is the Deputy Director of the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung & Blood Vessel Diseases (BIHLBD), and Director and Professor of the Department of Epidemiology of Beijing Anzhen Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University. She is an expert on epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases.
