Poem Writing: Current Issues and Future Potentials

EVENT INTRO

On July 7, SHANG Wei, Du Family Professor of Chinese Culture at Columbia University; ZHAI Yongming, an award-winning Chinese female poet; and LENG Shuang, Associate Professor of School of Literature Journalism and Communication, Minzu University of China, will visit Columbia Global Centers | Beijing. The three will have a discussion on the current issues and future potentials of poem writing. Zhai will also hold a book signing event afterwards.

SPEAKERS 

Zhai Yongming

Zhai Yongming began to publish poetry in 1981. Traveling extensively throughout Europe, she also lived in the US for nearly two years, during which she toured the nation by car. Consistently she is ranked as one of the most intriguing and challenging contemporary Chinese poets.

SHANG Wei

Professor SHANG Wei, Du Family Professor of Chinese Culture, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University

MODERATOR

LENG Shuang

Professor LENG Shuang, Ph. D. of literature at Peking University; Associate Professor of School of Literature Journalism and Communication, Minzu University of China; Visiting Fellow at Modern Chinese Poetry Research Institute of Peking University. His research focuses on modern poems and critic.
