Promoting Critical Thinking in the 21st Century

January 15, 2018
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Universidad Católica’s Campus San Joaquín at Vicuña Mackenna 4860 (Decanato de Educación, Ceppe Room, Third Floor.)

In a continuous changing world, where teaching in the traditional way becomes a challenge to capture over-stimulated students, this event will help academics, school teachers and students themselves to identify and determine how best to nurture the intellectual skills that will prepare young people for lifelong learning, work, and citizenship.

The event will be chaired by Verónica Cabezas (TC ’10), assistant professor at Universidad Católica’s Education Department and member of the Columbia Global Centers | Santiago’s Advisory Board.

Deanna Kuhn is a leading figure in the promotion of dialogue to develop students’ skills of argument –- the foundation of critical thinking and writing. She holds a Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley, in developmental psychology. Her most recent book:  “Building our best future: Thinking critically about ourselves and our world”, is written directly to encourage adolescents’ development as citizens in a participatory democracy.
