Management of river systems in India has often taken a bird’s eye view, focusing on engineering of large dams and embankments. But, what about the countless independent bore wells and pumps that have resulted in massive over-exploitation across India’s river basins?
The Center invites you to a panel discussion exploring the issue of river management in India. The discussion is being organized as part of The River Ganga: India's Iconic Water Machine - an exhibition by Anthony Acciavatti from the Graduate School of Art, Architecture and Planning at Columbia University. The panel of leading environmental experts will explore the emerging challenges of river management in India and propose new, integrated approaches to tackle them.
Date and Time: August 22, 2017 from 4-6pm
Venue: Nehru Science Centre, Dr. E. Moses Road, Worli, Mumbai
The session will be moderated by Ravina Aggarwal, Director, Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai.
