The Center invites you to our first livestream event. An interactive discussion on River Ganga with experts from around the country on one stage - YouTube!
From 3-4 pm on August 23, we're bringing together experts from Columbia University in New York, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, and more to discuss one of the most hyper-engineered landscapes of the world.
The discussion is being organized as part of The River Ganga: India's Iconic Water Machine - an exhibition by Anthony Acciavatti at the Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai from August 18-27, 2017. It is the first comprehensive visual profile of the Ganga River Basin in half a century.
Anthony Acciavatti is Adjunct Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, Columbia University. Acciavatti spent years hiking, driving, and boating across the Ganga to map the river and understand the growing conflicts over water for drinking, agriculture, and industry.
Vinod Tare is Professor of Environmental Engineering and Management and Founding Head of the Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. He led a consortia of IITs for the preparation of Ganga River Basin Management Plan submitted to the National Ganga River Basin Authority.
During the webinar, Acciavatti and Tare will discuss each other’s work, drawing parallels between their diverse backgrounds and experiences, and interact with experts from the National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee and Sir J.J. College of Architecture in Mumbai. This discussion will be livestreamed on YouTube, and is open for questions from practitioners, academics and students from around the world.
