A Workshop on Urban Workspace Design and Sustainable Innovations (Bangalore)

As a part of its Urban Works Innovation Challenge 2018, Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai, in partnership with The CoWrks Foundry, invites you to a workshop led by Professor Patricia Culligan and Ivy Schultz from The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Columbia University. The goal of this workshop is to introduce sectors where innovations can help transform 21st-century Indian workspaces into innovative, productive and sustainable environments. Examples of products emerging from research and design activities at Columbia University’s School of Engineering in New York, which might be relevant to 21st-century Indian workspace design, will be presented, together with ideas for new research and design approaches. In addition, the workshop will introduce the Lean Launchpad and customer discovery entrepreneurship methodology, which has been successfully used in the United States to test and develop business models that help drive innovation. There will be an opportunity at the workshop for participants to network with each other and share their own ideas for shaping the future of 21st-century Indian workspaces.

About the Speakers

Patricia Culligan

Patricia J. Culligan is Robert, A. W. and Christine S. Carlton Professor of Civil Engineering, at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Columbia University. She was the founding associate director of Columbia University’s Data Science Center and is also a faculty member at the Earth Institute. A leader in the field of water resources and urban sustainability, Professor Culligan explores novel, interdisciplinary solutions to the challenges of urbanization, with a particular emphasis on the City of New York.  Her research investigates the opportunities for green infrastructure, social networks, and advanced measurement and sensing technologies to improve urban water, energy, and environmental management.  She received her MPhil and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge.



Ivy Schultz

Ivy Schultz is the Director of Entrepreneurship at The Fu Foundation Engineering and Applied Science, Columbia University, where she manages initiatives to foster entrepreneurship in Columbia engineers, linking them to the ecosystem of the university, the city, and beyond.  She has actively consulted with startups and larger organizations since 2009, helping them communicate technical ideas and describe their brands to customers, partners, and investors. She is also interested in technology policy and law as it relates to startups. She has an MA degree in Communications (Georgetown), focused on technology and international business.
