Alexander Alberro gives lecture on Contemporary Art

Professor Alberro, the Virginia Bloedel Wright Professor of Art History and Department Chair at Barnard College, offered an open lecture at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, one of the most prestigious schools of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro. The lecture was organized by the Columbia Global Centers | Rio de Janeiro with the support from the Post-Graduation Program of the School of Comunication of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

On his lecture "On the Horns of A Dilemma: Contemporary Art Between the Regional and the Transnational", Professor Alberro discussed the art production in the last quarter of the XXth century, trying to stabilish links between the art forms produced and the political and social context.
