Alumni Spotlight: Maisa Rojas Appointed Minister of Environment

The Santiago Center wishes to congratulate Columbia alumna Maisa Rojas for her appointment as Chile's future Minister of Environment in the government of President-elect Gabriel Boric.

Rojas, a physicist and climotologist, was a 2000-2001 postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia's International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI). She is the director of the Center for Climate Science and Resilience Research (CR2 Chile), a professor at Universidad de Chile's Department of Geophysics, and was the coordinating lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) climate report on the current and future state of world climate.
