May 20, 2020

Gabriel Guggisberg (SIPA ’18), a Columbia MPA graduate in Energy and Resource Management, has been selected as a Future Energy Leader for Chile by the World Energy Council (WEC).

In this prestigious role, Guggisberg—currently Head of the E-Mobility Group at Chile’s Energy Sustainability Agency—will join a cohort of 100 young professionals from around the world to address the energy sector’s most pressing challenges. Together, they aim to shape forward-looking public policies that integrate emerging technologies, address population growth, and consider global disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In particular, I will be participating in the ‘market of ideas,’ which this year focuses on new solutions for energy storage, hydrogen applications, and the future of mobility,” he said.

Reflecting on his time at Columbia, Guggisberg added, “My studies at SIPA were key to understanding emerging technologies that impact people’s lives—such as Civic Tech. I was also immersed in a global innovation ecosystem, where I quickly learned that good ideas always find support.”
