Alumni Spotlight: Pablo Alfaro Appointed Education Officer for UNICEF Chile
June 25, 2021
Pablo Alfaro (SIPA’13) has been appointed Education Officer at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Chile. The civil industrial engineer has over 15 years of experience in the education sector, both in Chile and the United States, developing projects for Central America and the Caribbean.
Prior to joining UNICEF, Alfaro was a partner and managing director at Integralis Consultores, a consulting firm in which he led the education sector practice. He has also worked as an education consultant for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the World Bank, the Chilean Ministry of Education, and Universidad Católica’s School of Engineering, among other organizations and nonprofits.
"I admire UNICEF because it works with a comprehensive approach, with an understanding of children and youth as subjects of rights," he said regarding his most recent appointment. "I was motivated by the opportunity to work from that vision, taking part in education policy discussions and in the immense educational challenge that Chile must face to address the educational emergency brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, which includes the recovery process in the years to come."
