On January 13, Columbia Global Centers | Beijing successfully held an art exhibition for oil painters Mr. Jian Wang, Ms. Jin Li, and Abigale Wang, an undergraduate student at Columbia University's Columbia College, showcasing some of their signature paintings. A public lecture was included during the exhibition. Three artists introduced their art pieces and discussed the techniques of oil painting and pastel painting, the capture of moments and actions, the heritage and integration of different culture in paintings. Mr. Jian Wang also gave out his signed albums of paintings as gifts to the audiences who participated in the Q&A session. More than 100 people attended the exhibition along with nearly 110,000 viewers watched the event live through Beijing Center's live-streaming platform.
“Art should belong to each and every one of us, without boundaries. The charisma of art is to possess the sensation and enthusiasm,” said Abigale Wang, who also serves as the curator for this exhibition. “Our aim is to advocate the value of artistic multimodality, to challenge the stereotype confining art exclusively to artists, to stimulate the ceaseless passion for art. Art acts as an attitude, an externalization, an echo representing the sub-consciousness of human beings, whether they are the subtle carvings between the lines, the natural revelations of feelings in a certain moment, or the sudden outburst of brush and stroke.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Jian Wang and Ms. Jin Li expressed their gratitude towards much support from the parents group of Columbia University's undergraduate students. “We hope to immerse parents and attendees in an unique art experience, throughout which process we hope every participant to be motivated and inspired in the world of art,” said Ms. Jin Li.
