A joint team of students from Columbia and Princeton Universities attended a course in Nairobi at Columbia Global Centers | Africa as part of their Sustainable Development in Practice program. The course is designed to give the students a practical but broad-based understanding of sustainable development in East Africa.

The course started in Nairobi in February 2015 and will include a field visit of Sauri Millennium Village in Kenya as well as Mpala Research Centre. The twelve week course will then conclude with a hike on Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa.

The role of the Nairobi Center's technical staff was mainly as instructors during the student’s week-long stint in Nairobi. Further, Dr. Susan Karuti, the Centre’s Regional Education Advisor, is accompanying the Students in Sauri MVP for their practical session.
