Certificate Program in Teaching Chinese Now Accepting Applications

Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 in the Certificate Program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. The program will be hosted at Teachers College and will provide state-of-the-art training in Chinese pedagogy.

Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 in the Certificate Program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. The program will be hosted at Teachers College and will provide state-of-the-art training in Chinese pedagogy.

It is co-sponsored by the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Applied Linguistics Programs at Teachers College, the Chinese Language Program in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University, and Asia for Educators at Columbia University. Developed and taught by a world-class team of experts, the program offers a cutting-edge curriculum that sets trainees on a fast and efficient track to gain knowledge and skills necessary for operating effectively in the current and future classrooms in various contexts. The program especially encourages applicants who are:

  • Undergraduate students, current students or graduates of MA programs in Chinese

  • studies, applied linguistics, TESOL, bilingual and multilingual education

  • Mandarin speakers in the U.S. certified or not yet certified to teach other subjects

  • Teachers from China or other Chinese-speaking regions

  • Professionals considering a career change

  • Individuals looking for a professional career

    The program is currently accepting applications for the 2015-2016 session. Space is limited.

    For international students who do NEED to apply for J-1 Visa to enter the U.S:

  • May 1, 2015 (final deadline)

     

    For domestic and international students who do NOT need to apply for Visa:

  • April 30, 2015 (priority deadline)
