Five Chilean companies are participating in the 2018-2019 edition of Columbia Business School’s Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness in Latin America (ECLA) program, which targets entrepreneurs from mid-sized Latin American companies seeking to expand and enhance their competitiveness in the global market. The program consists of six modules, with the first taking place on Columbia's campus in New York from January 3 to 12. This initial module included sessions on the foundations of international business and problem-solving, featuring top faculty from the Business School.
The participating Chilean companies range from a pet store to an innovation accelerator and include TiendaPet, INNSPIRAL, Nutraline, Rivet, and Khipu. This edition of the program also brought together representatives from fifteen other companies across Argentina, Cuba, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Spain, and Mexico, each represented by two or three of their leaders.
Gisele Feldman, Program Manager at the Santiago Center, is also participating in the program, alongside representatives from the global entrepreneurship movement Endeavor.
The diversity of the companies’ sectors is one of the most enriching features of ECLA. Among the participants are video game designers from Argentina, online beauty product retailers from Uruguay, and a producer/exporter of organic fruits and vegetables from Peru.
This is the fifth iteration of the ECLA program, led by Nelson Fraiman from the Business School. Previous Chilean participants have included NeptunoPumps in the industrial sector, ArchDaily (an architecture portal), Corbac in the food industry, and Capitaria in financial services.
The upcoming modules for the 2018-2019 ECLA program will take place as follows: March 12–16 (study trip to Scandinavia), April–July 2018 (online), August 13–17 (on campus), September–December (online), and January 7–11, 2019 (on campus).
