Luis Felipe Céspedes, a professor of economics at the Business School of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez who served as Chile’s Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism from 2014 to 2017, has joined Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) as a part-time visiting professor for the spring 2019 semester. He is teaching a course on macroeconomics theory and policy in the MPA-EPM program.
During this tenure as Minister of Economy, he was President of the Board of the Economic Development Agency of Chile (CORFO) and President of the Foreign Investment Promotion Committee. Céspedes was Chief of Economic Research at the Central Bank of Chile (between 2009 and 2011) and Chief Economic Advisor and Director of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance of Chile (Earlier, in 2006-2009). Previously, he served as an economist at the Research Department of the Central Bank of Chile and of the International Monetary Fund.
