Columbia Alumni Go Deep Underground to visit Santiago’s New Subway Line

March 28, 2018

On March 28, a group of Columbia alumni in Santiago visited the city’s new Metro subway line, Línea 6, in a guided tour led by School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) alumnus Vladimir Glasinovic. A former member of the board of the company, which moves 2.6 million passengers per day, Glasinovic shared information about the technology of the new line, which is controlled remotely.

The event gathered 18 alumni who jumped into the train’s first car, with a view of the tunnel ahead of them, and visited the line’s control room. Inaugurated last November, Santiago's new Línea 6 is a 15 km network with 10 stations.

The visit ended with drinks and snacks at the De la Ostia bar in the Providencia neighborhood. The event was organized by Columbia Alumni Club of Chile with the support of Columbia Global Centers I Santiago.
