Columbia’s Saskia Sassen Discusses Concentration of Power in Context of Profound Change

June 09, 2020

Saskia Sassen, Columbia University Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair of the Committee on Global Thought, presented in a webinar hosted by the NGO Puerto de Ideas, during which she was interviewed by Chilean philosopher Martín Hopenhayn.

In the webinar, Sassen addressed three main areas: the profound changes that society is currently going through, the concentration of power, and how the working class can confront those powers.

“We have to fight to recover a system that will never be egalitarian, but that cannot be as brutal as it is now,” she said.
