Enhancing Global Representation; the Regional Undergraduate Recruitment

This is part of the university’s continued objective to grow global representation on campus and enhance its role in addressing global challenges and seek global solutions and impact through education and research represented in the universities communities-faculty, students, staff and alumni.

Nairobi: Columbia University’s international undergraduate recruitment is currently underway. Whitney Green, the Associate Director in the Undergraduate Recruitment Office who is also the director of International Recruitment and Science Recruitment, was recently in Nairobi to conduct the recruitment drive. This is part of the university’s continued objective to grow global representation on campus and enhance its role in addressing global challenges and seek global solutions and impact through education and research represented in the universities communities-faculty, students, staff and alumni.   

The recruitment drive was conducted in conjunction with the joints admission team of Cornell University, Princeton University, and Stanford University, and drew over 300 participants from ten high schools and individuals from across Nairobi.  The recruitment drive allows the universities to present firsthand information on the university’s academic programs, university policy, international student life, and financial aid.  Secondly, the distinct interactive sessions allow the students to learn more on the application process, and the opportunity to work towards joining top learning institutions.

The ensuing discussions centered on the holistic approach of matching the individual's combined package – grades, outlook, and citizenry, and coupling that with what the respective schools.   Whitney Green emphasized on Columbia University's mantra on investing back in its students through financial aid,  its diverse education, research, and on-campus programs. Whitney also highlighted the unique and distinct, world-class faculty coupled with the opportunities for students to chart their path in limitless possibilities of a diverse student population, cultures, and experiential opportunities present in a cosmopolitan city - New York. Whitney  urged the participants to engage with the Columbia Global Centers | Nairobi vast programming and knowledge sharing platforms.

The team is conducting similar drives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Kigali Rwanda; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.
