Columbia Global Center I Nairobi hosted Princeton University’s students and instructors for part of the Princeton Institute for International Regional Studies (PIIRS) Seminar.  The Seminar guides primarily on Africa’s natural and wildlife heritage and how the Art of film advances the causes of science as well as how local communities use media to support their environmental activism.  The seminar included key presentations from:

  • Vincent Ontita - Environmental Activist in the region.
  • Siddharth Chatterjee - UN Resident Coordinator.
  • Wildlife Direct: whose mission is to connect people to wildlife and nature and inspire them to values and act to conserve it.
  • Johannes Refisch - UN Environment- Great Apes Survival Partnership.

The six-week PIIRS seminar allows Princeton University’s students to learn and immerse themselves in Kenya, among other regions of choice, as they work with scientists, filmmakers, and environmental activists, to understand some of the international development issues such as water, wildlife, agriculture, and land use.
