Exclusive Business Executive Education Event on Digital Transformation in Santiago

May 24, 2018

On May 11, the Santiago Center partnered with Columbia Business School Executive Education to offer an extremely successful workshop featuring David Rogers, a globally recognized leader in digital business strategy and the bestselling author of The Digital Transformation Playbook: Rethink Your Business for the Digital Age. This whole-day- exclusive event, entitled “Transform Your Business to Compete in the Digital Age”, included interaction sessions led by Rogers on the five domains in which traditional companies need to rethink their underlying assumptions (customers, competition, data, innovation, and value); the way in which leaders need to address digital transformation at their corporations; and on big data, analytics, and the true power of Artificial Intelligence.

At Columbia Business School (CBS), David teaches global executives as non degree faculty director of Executive Education programs on Digital Business Strategy and Digital Marketing. He directs two purely online programs, and the hybrid Digital Business Leadership Program with modules in New York, online, and in Silicon Valley. David is also faculty director of the Google-Columbia CMO Academy. His recent research has focused on digital transformation, big data, the Internet of Things, in-store mobile shoppers, digital marketing ROI, and customer data sharing.

During the workshop, which was attended by C-Suite executives and entrepreneurs, Rogers stressed that digital transformation is not about technology but rather about leadership, strategy and new ways of thinking. He gave several examples on how global companies have both succeeded and failed in the process, the most notable being Netflix and Blockbuster, respectively. He discussed disruptive business models and had participants engage in practical exercises focusing on how to address them by rethinking their business strategy and growth potential based on the five domains he had previously discussed.

At the event, Jennifer Goez, Director of Learning Solutions at CBS, presented the opportunities available at Columbia Executive Education to address the development of the future workforce in the areas of Management, Leadership, Strategy, Finance, and Marketing.

This was the first joint-event between the Santiago Center and Columbia Business School Executive Education.
