Global Education Connection (GEC) Chinese Students Visit to Nairobi Center in an initiative that seeks to connect the world by conducting research projects that are of relevant to US, Africa and China,

A group of Chinese students from the Global Education Connection (GEC) and who are actively involved in the China-Africa-US initiative visited the CGC - Nairobi Center on January 25th, 2017. This program was initiated by the Columbia alumni and has successfully placed may young Chinese students at the fore-front of global development. It has also helped to improve their awareness of globalization and improved on their skills to tackle real issued.
The initiative seeks to connect the world by conducting research projects that are of relevant to US, Africa and China – projects involving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The group comprised of 6 students and 4 mentors and teachers. Their research project was on public health where they conducted a week long study on decreasing water borne diseases in Maasai women. In the end, the conclusion of their study was that the lack of water led to women having UTI’s, eye infection and skin diseases. The students also concluded that finding a solution to this problem would lead to a fulfillment of key SDG’s such us in gender equality and empowering women, Improving health and education.
Through the support of the Global Centers, GEC has been able to broaden and upgrade their programmed to a better structures field study and academic program for Chinese future leaders.
