January 04, 2020

Since 2018, the Beijing Center has been paying close attention to the new and emerging technologies and its impact on the K-12 classroom in the 21st century.

On January 4, the Beijing Education Series welcomed leading experts and practitioners to introduce the current situation of AR teaching in classroom in China.

The event featured Professor Su CAI, Association Professor at Faculty of Education in Beijing Normal University, and Dr. Shanshan GUO, alumna of Columbia University Teachers College, and their collaborative project on application of AR in K-12 education.

In the past year, their project has further integrated AR technology with academic teaching regarding language, mathematics, science, chemistry, biology, and other subjects, making the courses widely accessible in schools around China. Examples include Helong High School in Honghu, Honghu Experimental School, and No.1 Primary School in Funan.

The event also included a short lecture, showcasing AR teaching to first grade students about the science of rainbow.

As a part of the Beijing Center's Education Series, this event aims to understand the current situation of AR teaching in classroom and look into the future. We look forward to discussing and optimizing the efforts of AR to improve the quality and effectiveness of education with experts from all fields.
