Marcel Agüeros, Associate Professor in Columbia's Department of Astronomy, visited Chile

May 30, 2017

In late May, Marcel Agüeros, an associate professor in Columbia's Department of Astronomy, visited his colleagues at the Instituto de Astrofísica of the Universidad Católica. While there, he gave a departmental colloquium on his work to understand the evolution of low-mass stars, developed plans for future joint projects with his collaborator Julio Chanamé, and discussed how to deepen connections between the two departments.

This visit was made possible by a President's Global Innovation Fund grant (PGIF) designed to support exchanges between the two departments. "Chile is really the place to be for observational astrophysics," said
professor Agüeros, "and Columbia's investment in our partnership with PUC is a really exciting development, particularly for graduate students at both institutions."
