Nansong Huang Piano Recital A Great Success

On July 21, a special piano performance was held at the Columbia Global Center | Beijing which showcased talented Columbia University and Juilliard School pianist Nansong Huang. The event was co-sponsored by the Columbia University Department of Music.

On July 21, a special piano performance was held at the Columbia Global Center | Beijing which showcased talented Columbia University and Juilliard School pianist Nansong Huang. The event was co-sponsored by the Columbia University Department of Music. Mr. Huang performed six separate programs which included the following pieces: three Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti which included Sonata in C minor, K.11, Sonata in A major, K.322, and Sonata in C major, K.159; pieces by J.S. Bach which included Partita No. 6 in E minor, BWV 830, Toccata, Allemande, Corrente, Air, Sarabande, Tempo di Gavotta, and Gigue; pieces by Joseph Haydn which included Piano Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI/50, Allegro, Adagio, and Allegro Molto; pieces by Claude Debussy which included Images, Book I, Reflets dans l'eau, Hommage a Rameau, and Mouvement; two pieces by Frédéric Chopin which included Ballade No.1 and Op. 23; and finally Ginzburg: Fantasia on a theme of "Largo al factotum" from Rossini's "The Barber of Seville".

More than one hundred people attended the event, from very young children to senior citizens. Afterwards, Nansong Huang spoke with the audience members and emphasized that “interest” is the best teacher, saying, “getting kids interested in music is the key”.
