In conjunction with Columbia’s Office of Global Programs and Columbia Global Centers | Paris, the Amman Center held the eighth offering of the annual Arabic language program and the fourth offering of the Columbia MENA Summer Institute in May – June, 2018.

Studies and design challenges on the features of innovative workplaces have been primarily focused on US and European contexts. In light of this, Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is partnering with Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai to launch the Urban Works Innovation Challenge – a multi-year collaborative design challenge to boost the current and future potential of the Indian workforce. Supported by the RMZ Foundation, the initiative will address the critical need to transform 21st-century workspaces.

Florian Grosset (SIPA '22), one of the organizers of the 2018 Alliance Summer School, shares insights from his research on the effects of climate change on migration.

Alejandra Matus, a Chilean journalist and academic, has been awarded the 2018 Weiss Fellowship for Visiting International Scholars, which was established to support visits by international critics and scholars to Barnard College of Columbia University in New York. Between September 30 and October 10 Matus will deliver a public lecture and lead a workshop for students on the  role of women in media, the relationship between governments and the press, and the causes and consequences of “fake news”. In addition, she will working with professor of history Nara Milanich on shared research. 

June 20-22, the Paris Center co-hosted a three-day colloquium honoring the works of Professor Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak.
