Lee C. Bollinger, President of Columbia University, and Xinping Su, Vice President of CAFA were invited to deliver opening remarks.

Carol Becker, Dean of Columbia University School of the Arts, Bing Xu, Professor of CAFA and Ji’nan Yin, Dean of School of Humanities of CAFA shared their understandings and exchanged insights on panel discussion. Xiaoxia Song, Professor of CAFA was the moderator of the panel.

During the panel, Professor Carol Becker and Professor Bing Xu discussed around the issues of art education in China and the States. Professor Bing Xu insisted that the core of art is impossible to "teach," what we CAN teach is the techniques and methods. Professor Carol Becker agreed with Xu's ideas and shared her ideas that art education not only taught students to elevate themselves in artistic field, but also encourage them to engage with the social issues. Professor Ji'nan Yin addressed that social network was affecting everyone, including artists and their creations.

Over 450 people participated in the event. In Q&A session, panalists received three questions from the audience. Among them, one of the questions was addressed by a Columbia Alumnus.
