The conference was part of a multidisciplinary and multilingual project, analyzing Spivak’s research and militant activities through the perspective of the diverse academic fields upon which she has had a profound impact: literary theory, translation, political philosophy, postcolonial studies, gender studies, anthropology, education, history.

Conference participants, drawn from all over the globe, demonstrated the scope Spivak's methodology by sharing how they have built on this pioneering practical, theoretical, and speculative work in their own research.

The event was organized by Mireille Caille-Gruber, Sarah Anais Crevier Goulet, and Philip Daros in partnership with the Paris Center, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, the Collège international de philosphie, the Centre de recherches en études féminines et genre, and Éditions des femmes.

The conference opened with exceptional presentations by Prof. Spivak and longtime friend and colleague, Professor Etienne Balibar. Listen to their conversations here.
