On March 12, the Center co-hosted another alumni gathering event with Columbia University Department Of Music, featuring Dr. Baczewska. She talked about her experience working with maestro Tan Dun '93 on his Martial Arts Trilogy, a film music album for three films by world-renowned Chinese directors: Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Zhang Yimou (Hero), and Feng Xiaogang (The Banquet). This album showcases the ancient tradition of Chinese martial arts philosophy.
"I met maestro Tan Dun completely by accident in 2014, and it was truly a dream-come-dream," said Dr. Baczewska. "He tends to simplify things all the time for both the audience and the performer, and he has always thought to across boundaries and disciplines, and to bring different genres together."
