The Santiago Center's Advisory Board met mid-December in a thoughtful discussion led by Safwan Masri, Executive Vice President for Global Centers and Global Development at Columbia University. The gathering was attended by seven members, two invited guests from Columbia University and four staff members from the Santiago Center.
During the meeting, Masri updated the board on the current state and future plans of the Global Centers network, which in 2019 celebrated its 10th anniversary. Karen Poniachik, the Center’s Director, detailed current and upcoming programs, initiatives and research projects and highlighted expected faculty visits.
The board proposed a brainstorming workshop to define the 2020 agenda considering the social challenges that Chile faces, on how to strengthen democracy, social innovation and collaboration.
