September 03, 2020

Columbia Global Centers | Beijing hosted a weeklong virtual career fair open exclusively to students and alumni of Columbia School of Professional Studies, in partnership with School of Professional Studies, Columbia University Career Design Lab, UNESCO Creative Cities (Shanghai) Promotion Office, and Shanghai Global Talent Service Center.

The virtual career fair, lasting from August 17 to 21 (Beijing Time), offered SPS students and alumni opportunities to speak directly to employers from 35 prominent China-based companies recruiting for both full-time jobs and internships, gain first-hand information about a particular field or industry, and build their personal and professional network to enlarge their circle of contacts.

Participating companies represented diverse industries, including technology, internet, consulting, marketing, communications, finance, education, and others.

More than 900 students and alumni from ten SPS programs participated in this five-day event. In a follow-up survey, the vast majority of students, alumni, and employers said that they found value in the event:

  • 97% of students and alumni said they would recommend this event to their friends.
  • 92% of employers said that they would participate in future virtual Columbia SPS events.
  • 87% of students and alumni either strongly agreed or agreed that the event expanded their job search options.
